EMF is pleased to welcome Prof Hugh Grantham ASM as the new Chair of the EMF Board of Directors, after the four-year tenure of Dr Kim Hansen as Chair ended on Tuesday 7 March 2023.

Hugh has been on the EMF board for the past two and a half years. He has more than 30 years’ clinical experience in general and emergency medicine, and is also one of Australia’s leading emergency medicine educators.

He was the Inaugural Professor of Paramedics at Flinders University, serving from 2011-2019, is the senior educator for the National Advanced Life Support program, and also teaches for the RACGP and the College of Sports Physicians.

Hugh serves on several governance committees including the Australian Resuscitation Council and has been awarded both the Ambulance Service Medal and the Humanitarian Service medal with Bar.

Hugh is also a proficient and passionate sailor and is Chair of the One and All Tall Ship Board in Adelaide.

EMF has been expertly led by Dr Hansen over the past four years in her role as Chair, during what has been a particularly demanding and dynamic time for emergency medicine. EMF thanks Dr Hansen for her contribution during this time and looks forward to continuing to work with her as she remains a member of the Board of Directors.
